Nifco Corporation (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter "Nifco") has begun sales of the "One-Touch Fastening Shielding Plate for Aiming Reflectors", which was developed for vehicles manufactured by SUBARU Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, President : Atsushi Osaki, hereinafter "SUBARU").
In recent years, advanced safety features have been installed in many vehicles, contributing to the reduction of traffic accidents. With the advent of autonomous driving, the installation of advanced safety features in vehicles is expected to increase even further.
One such advanced safety feature, millimeter wave radar, emits electromagnetic waves to detect target vehicles and people. However, if unwanted metallic reflective objects are present within the irradiation range, reflected waves that cause noise are generated, leading to false detection of objects other than the target. This is also true during aiming (millimeter wave radar calibration) work in auto repair shops; the generation of electromagnetic noise prevents accurate aiming. Therefore, automakers instruct their service manuals to implement measures to prevent millimeter wave radar noise as needed.
Previously, SUBARU instructed repair shops to prevent noise during the adjustment and inspection of the front-side radar by attaching wood to the stand of the metal aiming reflector. However, because the reflector height varies depending on the vehicle model, multiple pieces of wood of different heights were required for each vehicle. Furthermore, the wood had to be secured with tape each time, making installation and removal time-consuming.
Therefore, Nifco has developed a one-touch fastening shielding plate for aiming reflectors, combining our product, a millimeter wave radar compatible electromagnetic wave absorbing panel (Note), which has high electromagnetic wave absorption performance, with the fastening technology we have cultivated since our founding. We are pleased to announce that this product has now been adopted as a work improvement tool officially approved by SUBARU.

"Commercialization of electromagnetic wave absorption panels compatible with millimeter wave radar"
This product features a resin clamp on the back of the millimeter wave radar-compatible electromagnetic wave absorption panel for easy attachment and detachment to the stand, allowing for one-touch installation and removal. Furthermore, the clamp provides sufficient holding power, enabling height adjustment of the reflector even while the panel is installed.
This product went on sale to SUBARU dealerships on May 14th.
