Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter "Nifco") will be conducting a field test of its system "NETSZERO™", a heatstroke prevention system for schools, at elementary and junior high schools in Ota Ward (Mayor: Akimasa Suzuki, hereinafter "Ota Ward"), Tokyo.
* "NETSZERO" is currently pending trademark registration.
The Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology recommend measuring the "heat index" before conducting physical education classes and club activities to prevent heatstroke. However, measuring the heat index manually requires teachers and staff to visit school grounds and gymnasiums, which has been a burden.
Our company's developed heatstroke prevention system for schools, "NETSZERO™", utilizes outdoor sensors in school grounds and indoor sensors in gymnasiums. The measured heat index information is then transmitted via a cloud server, allowing users to check it on PCs, smartphones, and tablets. This system enables automatic measurement and remote monitoring of the heat index, reducing the workload for teachers and staff. Furthermore, it creates a school-wide monitoring system, lessening the psychological burden on teachers making decisions about whether to conduct activities. Additionally, the acquired data can be used as teaching material in elementary school science units and junior high school integrated studies.
Furthermore, this system has already been fully implemented in 70 schools in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., and is being used to protect the health and safety of children in educational settings. It also received an Encouragement Award in the Services & Solutions category at the "MCPC award* 2025".
Since November 2021, our company has operated a Collaboration Showroom in "HANEDA INNOVATION CITY (hereinafter referred to as HICity)" in Haneda, Ota Ward, in collaboration with NTT EAST, Inc. and Marubeni Information Systems Co., Ltd. We have been planning and experimenting with IoT technology with the aim of utilizing our products in a variety of scenarios, such as temperature control and CO2 visualization within HICity. This collaboration has led to the successful implementation of a heatstroke prevention system demonstration experiment at elementary and junior high schools in Ota Ward. Nifco will continue to work with Ota Ward to contribute to solving local issues and improving the quality of life for its residents.
*"MCPC award" was established in 2003 by the Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium (MCPC). It solicits case studies of system utilization in areas such as mobile, IoT/AI, 5G, robots, drones, and cloud computing, and awards companies, organizations, and groups working to create new value in two categories: the "User Division" and the "Service & Solutions Division."
<Features of "NETSZERO™", a heatstroke prevention system for schools>
• Visualizes temperature, humidity, and heat index (WBGT) by area.
• Uses low-power wireless outdoor/indoor sensors, making installation and removal easy and eliminating the need for extensive wiring work.
• Data aggregation via the cloud allows real-time monitoring of conditions without needing to visit the site, as long as there is an internet connection.
• Past temperature, humidity, and heat index measurement data can be exported from the system as a CSV file.
• Measurement data is accumulated and graphed, making it usable as teaching material.
