Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter "Nifco") has been recognized for its "Heatstroke Prevention System Utilizing Battery-Free Sensors" at the "MCPC award 2025" hosted by the Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium (MCPC), receiving the Encouragement Award in the Service & Solution category.

■About the MCPC award

"MCPC award" was established in 2003 by the Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium (MCPC). It solicits case studies of system utilization in areas such as mobile, IoT/AI, 5G, robots, drones, and cloud computing, and awards companies, organizations, and groups working to create new value in two categories: the "User Division" and the "Service & Solutions Division."
The 22nd annual awards ceremony was held on November 26, 2025, at the Tokyo Prince Hotel in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

■ Award-winning Service and Reasons for the Award

The award-winning "Heatstroke Prevention System" was developed to prevent heatstroke in schools (elementary, junior high, and high schools).
Dedicated sensors connected to the Internet via a mobile network are installed on school grounds, gymnasiums, and other locations to measure WBGT values. Measurement data can be viewed in real time via a web browser, eliminating the need for teachers and staff to travel to the site and eliminating variance in measurement results due to measurement conditions (e.g., measurement method and location). The administrator interface (function) allows for centralized management of information for multiple schools. The system's greatest feature is its battery-free sensors, which eliminate the need for complicated installation and enable energy-saving operation (indoor sensors are wireless and battery-free devices, while outdoor sensors have a long battery life).
This system was fully implemented in 23 public junior high schools and Yokosuka Municipal High School in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, in June 2025, and is helping to protect the health and safety of children in educational settings. By the end of this fiscal year, the system is scheduled to be introduced in 44 Yokosuka city elementary schools and 2 special needs schools, and we have received numerous inquiries from other local governments as well.
In addition to the visualization of the environment by area achieved with the school system, the system also visualizes temperature, humidity, and WBGT (equivalent) values for each worker, and has added a function to automatically create daily checklists. A "Heatstroke Prevention System for Workplaces" is currently undergoing demonstration testing at 9 companies, with 3 of them already planning to officially introduce the system next spring.
