Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President and CEO: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter "Nifco") is pleased to announce that it has developed a new rear shielding plates that uses Nifco's proprietary NV* reduction technology to dramatically improve its sound insulation and sound absorption performance and has begun mass production for Toyota Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Toyota").
*NV：A general term for noise and vibrations that are generated inside a car and felt by the passengers inside the car.
A rear shield plate is a part that is installed between the bumper and the body (side member) at the rear of the vehicle.
It has the effect of reducing road noise that enters the vehicle interior from the vent duct and its surroundings.
With the recent increase in the number of EV vehicles, various noises that used to be hidden by the engine sound can cause discomfort to passengers, so there is a greater need than ever to reduce noise and ensure quietness in the vehicle interior, and the development of parts that have the function of reducing NV has become important.
The rear shielding plate, which Nifco has recently begun mass producing, uses a unique wave-shaped shape to insulate and absorb noise in specific frequency bands, reducing the amount of sound transmitted into the vehicle interior.
This improves quietness and contributes to creating a more comfortable cabin space.
This product is installed in Toyota Motor Corporation's new LEXUS RX, and received the company's "RX Project CE (Chief Engineer) Award.
