Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter "Nifco") has developed and begun mass production of "WaOSaFe™," a wheel nut indicator for large trucks.

In recent years, wheel detachment accidents have become a major problem for large trucks, with many of these occurring due to lack of maintenance. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and related organizations are working together to implement countermeasures, but there are concerns that the "Logistics Problem of 2024*" will accelerate the increase in the number of accidents, leading to supply chain disruptions, delivery delays, and other risks that will spread throughout society.
*As of 2024, overtime work of truck drivers will be capped at 960 hours per year, resulting in shorter working hours and concerns that this will lead to a shortage of necessary transportation capacity.
Wheel nut indicators are inspection aids that can be attached to the wheel nuts of large vehicles such as trucks to check for looseness. However, they have not become widely used due to issues such as unclear criteria for determining looseness and the time-consuming and skilled labor required for assembly and removal. Nifco has recently begun mass production of "WaOSaFe™," a wheel nut indicator that, in addition to its functionality of allowing users to visually check loose wheel nuts at a glance and being easy to assemble, boasts a design that blends in with the wheel's design. "WaOSaFe™" enables quick and reliable daily inspections, reducing the workload of truck drivers and preventing wheel detachment accidents.
However, this product is sold exclusively in Japan.
