Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao (hereinafter, Nifco)) has commercialized and started mass production of Japan’s first* plastic-based ABS actuator bracket. (*based on Nifco’s research in June 2022)

In recent years, with the demand to reduce the environmental impact of all products, there has been an ever-increasing demand to reduce the weight of the main car body and improve its environmental performance by reducing the weight of all on-board parts. However, the brackets for fixing ABS actuators, which are important safety devices and weigh more than 2kg, have been made of metal because of their required heat resistance, vibration durability, and complex structure.

Now, based on the technology that Nifco has cultivated through the design and development of various plastic-based products, including industrial fasteners, Nifco and Toyota Motor Corporation have jointly commercialized Japan’s first plastic-based ABS actuator bracket and mass production has begun.
This product is installed in Toyota’s bZ4X and Subaru Corporation’s Solterra.

<Product Characteristics>

  • The number of parts has been reduced by 40% by utilizing the advantages of shaping freedom with resin injection and by consolidating other functions.

  • Weight has been reduced by 60% by switching from the conventional metal to plastic.

  • Contributes to improved efficiency of automobile assembly work, through reducing the number of assembly points which require bolts.
