The “ANA Windsurfing World Cup Yokosuka-Miura” will be held at Tsukuihama Beach in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., starting November 13, 2025. Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter “Nifco”) supports the event’s philosophy of promoting initiatives aligned with the SDGs and will contribute by providing trays made from sustainable materials.
Nifco upholds the purpose of ‘Sparking innovation by fastening small insights with technology for a better world’. For years, we have worked closely with customers across various industries, including automotive, to address their needs and challenges.
Yokosuka City, renowned for its high-quality “Yokosuka vegetables,” produces a wide variety of crops throughout the year. When we spoke with local farmers, we learned that vines from fibrous crops such as pumpkins and watermelons are difficult to return to the soil naturally, resulting in costly and labor-intensive disposal.
To address this issue, Nifco collaborated with Hemicellulose Ltd. (Head Office: Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Jin Nasukawa, hereinafter “Hemicellulose”) to develop trays made from bioplastic that incorporates pumpkin stems and vines previously discarded as waste. These trays will be provided for use at the “ANA Windsurfing World Cup Yokosuka-Miura”.
The trays made from sustainable materials will be available for visitors to carry food and beverages within the venue.
Nifco will continue to sincerely address issues from society and customers and contribute to the realization of various products that lead to a better environment, safety and comfort in order to realize our purpose of ‘Sparking innovation by fastening small insights with technology for a better world’.
