Nifco Inc. (Headquarters: Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Pref., President: Masaharu Shibao, hereinafter “Nifco”) introduced a large-scale solar power facilities on the plant roof of Nifco Kitakanto Inc. (Location: Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, hereinafter "Nifco Kitakanto") as part of the Group's carbon neutral strategy and will begin power generation on October 1, 2025.
This initiative aims to both reduce CO₂ emissions through the expanded use of renewable energy and foster harmony with the local community.
1. Overview of the Initiatives
Nifco Kitakanto had previously installed a 55.5kW solar power system. With the addition of a new 1,169.7kW large-scale solar installation, the total capacity has now reached 1,225.2kW. This expansion increases the renewable energy ratio by 2.6%, bringing the renewable energy ratio for the Nifco group in Japan to 4.4%. CO₂ emissions (Scope2) are expected to be reduced by 2.8%, with an estimated 4.7% reduction (equivalent to 791t-CO₂) across its Japan operations.
The generated electricity is utilized through a combination of self-consumption and surplus power sales. During major holiday breaks such as Golden Week, New Year, and summer holidays, when power demand is lower, surplus electricity is sold to the electricity market, ensuring economic efficiency.
The system was designed, constructed, and will be maintained by FD Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kariya City, Aichi Pref.; hereinafter “FD”).
